Inclusion, diversity and social change in the modern workplace

The Challenge

Direct-Path Consulting is a social impact consultancy which strives to create innovative routes to bring in collective change, supporting organisation to achieve positive social value transformation.

As part of The University of Manchester’s Collaboration Labs programme, our Research Associate Consultants were tasked with identifying the optimal approach to delivering online training courses for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) focused on leadership skills and practical tools for ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ and ‘Creating Social Value’.

Objectives

1. Identify the options for content, format and pedagogical approaches to delivering modern-day online leadership training on diversity, inclusion and social value for SMEs.

2. Produce a report summarising best practices, appraising the options and making recommendations for Direct Path’s to take forward the development of the training.

1. Review the research literature, governmental policy documents and best practice case-studies to identify training content.

2. Analyse the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT analysis) of the delivery formats to identify that which is best aligned to the goals of the client.

3. Identify the best pedagogical approaches to deliver Direct Path’s training requirements by conducting research using a multiple case study methodology.

Impact

This project delivered a report highlighting the key research findings in relation to the content, format and delivery approaches for online leadership training in ‘Inclusion and Diversity’ and ‘Creating Social Value’. The project outputs gave Direct Path all the information required to develop high-quality, best practice and impactful online training targeted at a specific client group to improve and expand its current training offer.
